Hanover Direct Appoints Brian C. Harriss As Chief Financial Officer WEEHAWKEN, NJ, June 21, 1999 - Hanover Direct, Inc. (AMEX: HNV) announced today that it has appointed Brian C. Harriss as Senior Vice President, Chief Financial Officer, effective June 28,1999. Mr. Harriss will be responsible for the all of the finance, accounting, financial reporting and treasury functions for the Company as well as its investor relations and corporate communications. Mr. Harriss will report directly to Rakesh K. Kaul, President and CEO of the Company. "We are extremely pleased to have Brian join our organization. He has the strong leadership skills and creativity to provide the strategic and financial structures needed to insure Hanover's profitable growth and increased shareholder value. Brian will play an active role as we position the Company into an industry leader in both the branded merchandise and platform service aspects of e-commerce," stated Kaul. Harriss has extensive global experience with dynamic market leaders in financial management, business development, strategic planning, and negotiation of acquisitions and alliances. He joins Hanover Direct from Dailey Capital Management, L.P. a venture capital firm, where he served as Chief Operating Officer for E-Bidding, Inc. an Internet, e-business startup. Prior to Dailey Capital, Harris served as Vice President, Corporate Development for The Reader's Digest Association, Inc. establishing formal development processes for the $3 billion publisher/direct marketer. He has also served as Chief Financial Officer for The Thompson Minwax Company, a Forstmann Little & Co. LBO from Kodak, and as Chief Financial Officer and Senior Vice President for Cadbury Beverages where he directed senior finance, planning and development for Cadbury Schweppes' $3 billion global beverages business. Mr. Harriss assumes the position to be vacated by Larry J. Svoboda, who, earlier this year, announced his intention to resign following the identification of a successor.
