Marketers also direct the expansion into multi-media channels of customer contact, including the INTERNET, and the growth of HDI internationally. HDI Merchants provide product for each catalog's customers by internationally sourcing items and through the development of unique product. Merchants are responsible for the quality and pricing of product...for how the product is to be offered within catalogs...for developing key vendor partnerships...and for managing the flow of goods to profitably support the business' sales plans. Each catalog has its own team of merchants. Inventory Management HDI Inventory Managers and Control Buyers manage each catalog's largest asset, their inventory. Inventory Managers are responsible for developing financial and unit sales plans ... analyze sales results ... act to ensure sufficient inventory on hand to meet customer demand ... expedite the in-bound flow of goods ... and are responsible for liquidating overstocks. They work hand-in-hand with the merchandising organization to produce a profitable business. Operations HDI Operations executives are responsible for processing all customer orders. The Company operates several state-of-the-art telemarketing and distribution facilities that service millions of orders every year. To get the job done, Operation executives typically manage complex work processes ... supervise large numbers of employees ... and carefully control budgets. To move goods in and out, Traffic Managers work closely with shipping and delivery companies. Information Technology HDI is at core an information-processing company, dependent on sophisticated systems to tap the value in its databases of customer information and to manage its inventory and order processing. IT executives are engaged in applications development, main frame computer operations, telecommunications and network support, and user training. Finance HDI Finance executives support both corporate-level functions and each catalog. Catalog Finance executives are responsible for the financial planning, analysis and management for each business unit, while Corporate Finance executives are responsible for transaction processing, (ie. receivables, payables, credit) as well as consolidated financial reporting. Successful Finance executives have strong academic preparation (CPAs and MBAs) with broad-based management and analytical skills.
